The most successful club in the history of the USSR and Ukraine, Dynamo Kiev was the first Soviet Union team to win a European football trophy – the Cup Winners’ Cup - in 1975. Kiev’s rich history is linked with lauded coach Valeriy Lobanovskiy.
Two Dynamo players have previously been awarded the Golden Ball – an award for Europe’s best footballer – Oleg Blokhin in 1975 and Igor Belanov in 1986.
